Proud ER actress Parminder Nagra shows off baby son Kai for the first time

ER star Parminder Nagra has been keeping a low profile since giving birth six months ago.

But it is no wonder the actress wanted to stay holed up at home, as the first pictures of her son show just how adorable baby Kai David Singh Stenson is.

Parminder, 34, who shot to fame in Bend It Like Beckham, seemed to be taking motherhood in her stride as she carried her six-month old son in his car seat near her home in Venice, California.

The actress, who played Dr. Neela Rasgotra in ER, looked trim and relaxed in jeans, a black smock top and red pumps.

She took sleepy baby Kai for a drive in their black Land Rover and a walk in his pram.

Photographer husband James Stenson, who Parminder wed in January, was also on hand to help,  carrying the tot in a sling across his chest.

Parminder, who is originally from Leicester, has been taking a break from her career since ER finished earlier this year, but intends to choose select movie roles in the next few years.

She gave birth to Kai -who shares the same name with Wayne and Coleen Rooney's newborn baby - on May 19.

Parminder admitted she had had strange cravings during her pregnancy.

'I think early on I had a few cravings like frosted flakes and things like filet-of-fish, which I don't even really eat,' she said.

'And I craved Indian food most of all, which is probably going to drive my baby crazy - all that spiciness - but what can I say?'

The couple seem to be getting to grips with parenthood. Parminder has put her career on hold while she cares for her son in his first few months
