Clement is the signature restaurant in The Peninsula New York.

Vibe:

The Peninsula, the famous five star hotel set in the heart of bustling Midtown Manhattan, has New York singing through its core - and its signature restaurant, Clement, is no different. The restaurant takes a pride of place positioned on the mezzanine level of the hotel lobby, meaning guests are greeted by its cosy lighting and low hum of chatter on arrival. The luxury New York vibe permeates through the decor, with muted colours and warm low lighting, with the room's main arched window giving a delightful view of the buzzy Fifth Ave and 55th.

As for the food, an American Fare concept chimes through the menu with wonderfully generous portions of fresh seafood, steaks, and pastas that could have come directly out of Italy.

What to order:

The breakfast menu is all-American perfection and has everything from baked eggs dishes, smoked salmon, omeletes and country sausages. The stand-out dish has to be the powdered Buttermilk Pancakes with Vermont mapel syrup. Add a side of the Applewood-smoked bacon if you're feeling extra decadent.

Dinner is a whole other story. Start with the superb Lobster Bisque; the Maine lobster is marinated in smoky Hennessy XO and put with a side of caviar. Alternatively, you could opt for the Tuna Crudo; lemon-soaked tuna with cucumber and avocado, drizzled with white soy sauce and added caviar. For a vegetarian option (or not), opt for the Kale and Quinoa Salad with edamame, carrot and roasted sesame dressing.

For your main course the Slow Braised Wagyu Beef Bourguignon is without contest. The mouth-wateringly tender beef - which is accompanied by caramelised heirloom carrots, sautéed seasonal mushrooms and applewood smoked bacon - literally falls apart when you cut into it. Other options are the Organic Salmon with sautéed pumpkin or the Chicken Roulade with white bean puree. Neither will leave you disappointed.

Finish off your meal with the Raw Chocolate Tart - the satisfyingly rich chocolate is offset with a zingy lime berry compote and light vanilla yoghurt. Alternatively, go for the comforting pineapple cake with roasted panna cotta and coconut sorbet.

In the adjoining bar, Bar at Clement, you can enjoy bespoke cocktails made by word-class mixologists in a setting that imbues comfort. Perfect for an intimate catch up between friends.
